How to Wash and Care for a Sublimation-Printed Motocross JerseyHow to Wash and Care for a Sublimation-Printed Motocross Jersey

A sublimated motocross jersey is built to last: the color is part of the fabric, so it never peels or cracks. But poor care can still damage the technical fabric and speed up wear. Here's how to keep your jersey looking sharp, race after race.

Washing: the right habits

Wash your jersey inside out, at 30°C (86°F) max, on a delicate cycle. Too high a temperature weakens technical fibers and can fade colors over time. Use a mild liquid detergent, no bleach, and skip fabric softener — it clogs breathable fibers and reduces their ability to wick sweat. Never wash it with zippered garments or rigid protection, which cause friction and micro-snags.

Drying: the mistake to never make

Never use a tumble dryer: drum heat damages the fibers and can distort the fit. Air-dry it flat or on a hanger, in the shade — prolonged sun exposure can slightly fade colors over the long run.

Right after the race

Mud and sweat left on a jersey for days before washing end up embedded in the fibers. If you can't wash it straight away, rinse it quickly in cold water.

What (almost) never wears out: the color

That's the whole point of sublimation: unlike heat transfer, the color isn't on the fabric but inside it — it will never crack. We break down the difference in detail in our sublimation vs. heat transfer article.
